이 사태는 충분히 예견됐습니다. 한국 국회 야당은 국회에서 조직위원장 중 한 사람인 여성가족부 장관에게 준비 부족을 질타했습니다. 하지만 장관은 별 문제없다는 투였습니다.

대통령 부부는 스카우트복을 입고 개막식에 참석하기도 했습니다. 그러나 허점투성이 운영 실태가 전세계에 알려지고 비난이 빗발치자 윤석열 정부는 전 정부와 야당에게 책임을 뒤집어 씌웠습니다. 여당 대표의 말입니다.

그러나 지난해 5월 대통령 취임 뒤 1년3개월이라는 시간이 있었습니다. 전 정부가 준비를 소홀히 했다 하더라도 이를 극복할 시간은 충분했습니다. 게다가 윤석열 정부는 지난해부터 거론된 우려에도 "대책 다 세워놨다"고 큰소리를 쳤습니다.

결국 태풍이 도운 것일까요? 8월 3일 시작한 잼버리는 7일 태풍 소식에 철수를 결정합니다. 참가자들은 한국 곳곳에 분산 배치됐습니다. 그러나 우왕좌왕의 연속이었습니다.

한 대학은 기숙사 상황 점검도 이뤄지지 않은 채 갑자기 800여명의 잼버리 참가자가 도착할 것이라는 통보를 받았다고 합니다. 식사나 방 배정 등 구체적 지침도, 비용 처리 언급도 없었고요. 또다른 대학은 예멘 참가자 175명을 배정받고 출장뷔페 음식까지 준비했는데, 밤늦게 이들이 애초에 입국조차 하지 않았다는 통보를 받기도 했습니다.

Only 11% of the colossal $117 billion budget was allocated to enhance campsite amenities, with a staggering 74% earmarked for the organizing committee's budget. Why did this happen? The answer lies in the fact that the event was held on barren reclaimed land, covertly channeling funds into the landfill project.

The president and his wife attended the opening ceremony in scouting uniforms. As the world uncovered glaring loopholes and criticism mounted, the Yoon administration shifted blame to the previous government and the opposition. This shift was voiced by the ruling party's representative.

One university was suddenly informed that 800 jamboree participants would be arriving without any dormitory checks, with no specific instructions on meals or room assignments, and no mention of handling expenses. Another university was given 175 Yemeni participants and even catered a buffet, only to be informed late at night that they had not even entered the country in the first place.
